In 1988, David and Anne Brown passionately set out to make traditional farmhouse cheeses for Australian markets inspired by European methods.
Fast-forward, and today Milawa has grown to become one of Australia’s most highly regarded specialty cheese makers and producers of award winning cow and goat milk cheeses.
Under the direction of headcheese maker Stephen Russell, Milawa Cheese use no machinery in their production, with all cheese made, turned and washed by hand. You’ll find no preservatives and only non-animal rennet used. The milk used comes care of local farmers in the Victorian high country, a sourcing process that exhibits the company's dedication to supporting the local community and commitment to low food miles.
